Volunteers are the heart of St. Jude Horse Rescue. Whether you're an experienced horse handler or have a passion for helping animals, there is a place for you on our team. Every hour you give helps provide rescued horses and farm animals with the care, love, and second chance they deserve.

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, students, and community groups, including:

Feeding and watering horses and farm animals
Grooming and spending time with the horses
Cleaning stalls, paddocks, and barns
Ranch maintenance and landscaping
Assisting with community events and fundraisers
Photography, marketing, and social media
Administrative and office support
Facility improvement projects
Educational outreach and advocacy

ways to volunteer

Youth Volunteers

We welcome young volunteers who are eager to learn about horse care, animal welfare, and the importance of compassion. Youth volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the required waiver, and younger volunteers may need to be accompanied by an adult.

No Experience Necessary

You don't need prior horse experience to volunteer. We provide guidance, safety instruction, and hands-on training to help you feel comfortable and confident. Our team will match you with tasks that fit your interests and abilities.

How to Become a Volunteer

Joining the St. Jude Horse Rescue volunteer team is easy! Whether you're looking to give back to your community, earn service hours, or simply spend time helping rescued horses and farm animals, we'd love to have you.

Step 1: Complete a Volunteer Application

Fill out our Volunteer Application so we can learn more about you, your interests, and your availability.

Step 2: Sign the Required Waiver

All volunteers must complete a liability waiver before participating. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver.

Step 3: Attend a Volunteer Orientation

New volunteers will attend a brief orientation where you'll learn about:

Our mission and rescue program
Ranch rules and safety procedures
Horse behavior and handling basics
Volunteer expectations
Daily tasks and responsibilities

No previous horse experience is required—we'll teach you everything you need to know!

Step 4: Start Volunteering!

Once you've completed your application and orientation, you're ready to join the team! We'll match you with volunteer opportunities based on your interests, experience, and availability.

Volunteer Requirements

Minimum age requirements may apply for certain activities.
Closed-toe shoes are required at all times.
Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty.
Arrive on time and be ready to work outdoors.
Treat all animals, volunteers, and visitors with kindness and respect.
