St Jude Horse Rescue was established in 2016 when our director, Lissette Hernandez, saved a horse from an auction destined for slaughter. The horse, named "Sierra" , was in dire condition - severely neglected, emaciated, and bearing numerous scars, both physical and emotional.
Lissette recognized that every horse deserves a second chance at life. Even when they are no longer considered "working horses", they still have so much more to give.
At St. Jude Horse Rescue we are committed to rescuing and rehabilitating equines who have suffered from abuse or neglect, as well as providing a fulfilling retirement for working horses.
Unfortunately, many horses are abandoned when they become too old or costly to care for. We rescue horses and other farm animals to provide them with a second chance at life, allowing people to experience the beauty they have to offer.
At St. Jude Horse Rescue, we offer an inviting environment for the community to engage with and learn about horses through various volunteer and advocacy opportunities.
Throughout the years, we have achieved significant milestones in our mission to further our goals, including earning certification as an Equine Professional from EAGALA (Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association).
